One of big things to sort out for our Wedding Day was our cake. My husband isn’t the biggest cake lover, so this job was over to me! I am a keen baker myself, but soon cancelled out the idea of making our cake myself. My second thought came to asking my Mum to make it, and after a short discussion we decided as much as my Mum’s cake is yummy scrummy, we didn’t want to burden my Mum with this task – she had enough to sort out with being Mother of the Bride.
This then led me on to looking at cake makers. The internet is brilliant for searching for local suppliers, but I personally come back to a recommendation off family and friends. It was through a friend of my Mum’s, who’s daughter got married a couple of years ago – they had found Specialized Cakes at a Wedding Faye they had attended where they had met and tasted Joe’s cake. Christine had sung his praises saying how good the cake tasted and how brilliant he want to deal with. From this we arranged to meet with Joe at his office, where had display cakes, along with photo albums of his cakes. I found this made it easier to design our own cake, taking elements of previous cakes, and adding our red theme too. To tie in with the postbox I had decorated myself, I asked Joe to use the same ribbon which he was more than obliging to do.
